CRU SPRING BREAK

March 8 – 15, 2025 | Destin Florida

Join us in sunny Destin Florida for our very own Cru NC State & Meredith College Spring Break trip. Spend a whole week growing in your relationship with God, resting on the beach, and making lots of new friends from here at NC State, Meredith, and Wake Tech. We will be staying in vacation homes across from the beach and will have a few meetings at a nearby church. This trip WILL fill up !  Be sure to register before we have reached capacity.  The price goes up the longer you wait.  Go to the registration link and sign up there.  **Since this trip will most likely fill up, we would ask that only those already involved with CRU or those desiring to get more involved would register.

Housing

We are staying in vacation homes that are walking distance to the beach.  The houses are scattered within about a 1 mile range and vary in size. Some are closer to the church where we will be meeting, some are closer to the beach area where we will be hanging out in the afternoons.  Anticipate some walking from houses to the beach, to the church, to other houses, etc.  Each house will have a combination of twin, queen, and king sized beds.  The number of occupants listed on the rental website is how many we will put in each house.  Each house will have wifi, a full kitchen, washer/dryer, one set of sheets per bed and one set of towels per person.

We will ‘fill’ houses with rooming groups.  On Wed, Jan 31st, students may sign up in groups of 2, 3, 4, or 5.  We will combine these groups and fill the houses according to the capacity that they allow.  Once houses are filled, we will post online who is in which house.

Rides / Transportation

Ultimately, we want getting to Destin to be your responsibility but we will help by posting ride needs/offers based on what you tell us when you register.  We have never had a problem in the past with people not getting down to Destin.  There is an airport north of Destin (code: VPS) or one in Panama City Beach 45 min away (code: ECP) should you choose to fly.  Regardless, you will need to plan to arrive/register at the church between 3:00-5:00pm (CST) on Mar 9th.  Estimate 11-12 hrs actual driving time (however, you gain an hour crossing into Central Time Zone)

General Schedule

Typically, we will have one large group meeting at the church each day (morning or night); pretty much all afternoons are free but we will have some optional activities (Spikeball, Cornhole, Volleyball, etc) on the beach. Four of the nights your family group will be paired with a different family group and you all will cook/eat together in one of the houses.  Other events include a Luau; a separate Men’s & Women’s time/night; Guy/Girl House Desserts; Campus Dinner at a local restaurant; and P&W on the beach one night.  We will send out a more detailed schedule before the trip.

Payments / Spending Money

Initially, you need to pay $50 to hold your spot,  If you did not pay the full amount when you registered, you will need to at least have paid $150 by Tues, Jan 30th. The balance of your registration must be paid in full by Thur, Feb 15th. If finances are a major issue, we have partial scholarships available.  Most students in the past have suggested bringing between $125 – $175 to use on travel/gas, meals, and general spending money. Students have strongly suggested having/using Venmo to split various costs like gas, food, etc  (or plan to bring a lot of small bills)

Food / Meals

Students will need to plan on paying for all their meals while on the trip.  The first night, we will provide a pizza dinner at the church.  Most students buy groceries for breakfasts and lunches throughout the week. On 4 of the nights, family dinner groups will cook for each other and split the cost.  One night, we will all go out to a local restaurant for dinner.
